 NOTIFICATION

 The Competent Authority of HBNI has decided to introduce a scheme for hosting guest professors in a Constituent Institution (CI) as a Visiting Professor of HBNI. The details of the said scheme, called the Visiting Professorship Scheme, are as follows:

 

1.      The Director of the CI interested in hosting an individual as a HBNI Visiting Professor (VP) will send the Curriculum Vitae of that individual, along with the period and purpose of the proposed visit to Dean HBNI. The HBNI Visiting Professorship shall be awarded to the individual on the approval of a Standing Committee of the Council of Management.

2.      The visitor may be requested to give a course of lectures. Efforts should be made to compile and distribute those lectures to other CIs.

3.      The honorarium to be paid to a HBNI Visiting Professor may be as per the directives of DAE issued from time to time. Currently applicable directive in that regard is the DAE OM No. 10/8/2002-R&D-II/291 dated July 30, 2004. The honorarium payable as per the said OM is as follows:

a.       For visits for a month or more: Rs. 20,000/- to Rs. 25, 000/- per month.

b.      Rs.1,000/- to Rs.1,250/- per day subject to a maximum weekly rate of Rs.5000/- to Rs.6250/- per week.

4.      In addition to the honorarium, the VP be provided accommodation in the Guest House of the concerned CI. In case the CI has no appropriate Guest House facility, the accommodation be arranged in a local hotel as per the rules.

5.      The expenses incurred will be debited to BRNS.

6.      The maximum duration of stay of a VP under this scheme is six months and can be extended up to one year with the approval of the standing committee. The duration of stay can be continuous or in short spells for three years.
