The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), founded in 1962, is an Autonomous  institution for fundamental research in frontier disciplines of the mathematical sciences.

 

IMSc provides high quality fundamental research in mathematics, theoretical physics and theoretical computer science; and contributes to the creation of highly trained scientific manpower. The research output of the institute has received international recognition and has led to several collaborative research projects with foreign scientists. Besides having commitments to strong interactions with the Indian university system, the institute, for many years, had active collaborative arrangements with foreign institutes/agencies such as ICTP in Italy, CNRS in France, The Third World Academy of Sciences etc.
