VECC

Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata

The Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) was set up at Kolkata, to provide full-fledged infrastructure for the development of latest accelerators. The center provides research facilities in nuclear physics and nuclear chemistry, and produces radioisotopes for various applications. The Centre provides R & D support to various nuclear science programmes in addition to its own programmes of building the latest state of the art accelerator, developing technology and producing critical components required for multi-disciplinary R & D work. A wide spectrum of research and development in the areas of engineering, material science, radiochemistry, nuclear medicine, electronics, cybernetics, cryogenics, vaccum technology etc. carried out at this center is a tool for global competition.

VECC is leading a prestigious experimental collaboration programme at the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) accelerator laboratory of the European Nuclear Research Centre (CERN) in Geneva (Switzerland).
